Washington, Dec 13 (ANI): Lamar Odom‘s coach for his new team Dallas Mavericks is a fan of the basketball star’s wife Khloe Kardashian and has called her “the coolest” Kardashian. The 27-year-old reality star told E! News that hubby Odom’s move to the Mavericks was “an unexpected change,” but the Texas team is eager to welcome the former L.A. Laker to the Lone Star state. The Dallas Mavericks posted a tweet on Monday, which included a shot of an empty locker ready for the 32-year-old’s gear. “Your locker is ready, Mr. Lamar Odom,” Us Magazine quoted the Mavericks as tweeting. | Chris Bosh Doesn’t Like Bandwagon Mavericks Fans | |
While the NBA lockout teetered on disaster for the league, it did produce one excellent consequence: the Dallas Mavericks will open the season at home against the Miami Heat on Christmas day to open the season — and raise their championship banner prior to the game. The lamest member of the superfriends in Miami, Chris Bosh, thinks that the ceremony is going to suck. Bosh, who is a Dallas native, thought that there were too many Mavericks fans during the offseason as well.
That’s funny. Before the superfriends teamed up in Miami, did anybody care about the Heat? As if teaming up with two superstars in Miami, in a league dominated by player interest more so than team interest, isn’t going to invite bandwagon fans. Maybe Bosh can have a few tissues ready for LeBron James when they raise the banner, since it’s going to suck so much – it wouldn’t be the first time LeBron cried in Dallas. That’s all for today guys, i’ll be back to blog you tomorrow. |

| Gaglardi Only Bidder For Dallas Stars | |
Image via Wikipedia Despite reports that other bidders have been approved for the bankrupt Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League, including Dallas Mavericks owner and Forbes 400 member Mark Cuban and former Texas Rangers owner Chuck Greenberg, the only bid for the hockey team has come from Vancouver businessman Tom Gaglardi. The deadline for submitting applications to bid passed with the following offer from Gaglardi: $50 million cash to get rid of the debt at the Stars level. $100 million of paper to wipe out the Tom Hicks level debt which is about $260 million. The $100 million of paper will be reduced by $15 or $20 million (operating costs). The creditors also get about $70 million cash from the sale of the Texas Rangers that is yet to be distributed. Gaglardi’s offer is for the Stars and half of American Airlines Center. The other 50% of the arena is owned by Cuban. Last December we valued the Stars at $227 million. It is still possible for other bidders to emerge. The Stars will be sent through a prepackaged bankruptcy hearing before the sale is final. The bankruptcy trustee is charged with making sure that the bankruptcy plan is fair to creditors and it’s that judgment that will determine how quickly this team exits bankruptcy. Not much else going on in the NBA world today. Posted in Uncategorized | Comments Off

| Dallas Named Best Sports City In U.S. | |
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The Sporting News says we’re the number one sports city for 2011 and writer Matt Crossman says that’s because the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA Championship title. Combine that with the Texas Rangers ride to the World Series in 2010 (and so far again in 2011, advancing to the ALCS) along with TCU winning the Rose Bowl and you’ve got the top sports city in the country. Crossman says we’re number one despite the Cowboys being sub-par the year we hosted the Superbowl. He also credits our sports success to Texas Motor Speedway, hosting both NASCAR and IndyCar races and the MLS Cup runner-up FC Dallas professional soccer team in Frisco. Dallas beat out Boston, which won the Stanley Cup in 2011 for the top spot. Philadelphia is third, Chicago is fourth and New York is fifth. Matt Crossman talks with KRLD’s Barbara Schwarz about the list
You can see the complete list of the Sporting News “Best Sports Cities” here. (Editors note: We know that “Dallas” is more than just what the Sports Network thinks it is. It’s the entire Metroplex – including Fort Worth, Arlington, Frisco and all of the surrounding areas.) What do you guys think about this. |
