When Michael Jordan was running the show with the Washington Wizards , he picked center Kwame Brown first overall in the draft, which pretty much gained MJ a load of criticism rather than franchise-changing player. Now Brown has signed on with Jordan’s Charlotte Bobcats as the team tries to unload center Erick Dampier , according to the Associated Press. Tim Thomas (notes) is visiting the Dallas Mavericks tomorrow but it looks like the two sides are already close to a one-year agreement , according to ESPN Dallas. The 33-year-old Thomas played 18 games for the Mavericks last season but then left the team in order to be with his ill wife, who is apparently in better shape now. The Dallas Mavericks have been rumored to be interested in signing free-agent center Shaquille O’Neal (notes) but the Dallas Morning News reports that there is another O’Neal on the team’s radar this offseason: 6-11 center Jermaine O’Neal (notes) , who spent last season with the Miami Heat , pouring in 13.6 points per game along with 1.4 blocks and 6.9 rebounds. The paper reports that the 31-year-old center would more likely go to the Mavs as a "straight free-agent signing, not a sign-and-trade."
