Hawks re-interviewing Mark Jackson

Former NBA point guard and current ESPN analyst Mark Jackson has never coached in the NBA but he’s getting a second interview for the Atlanta Hawks head-coaching gig, according to AOL Fanhouse. The site reports that Jackson is a finalist for the job along with Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Dwane Casey, former Mavs head coach Avery Johnson, and Hawks assistant Larry Drew.

The Atlanta Hawks apparently really like the look of the Dallas Mavericks because the team has apparently has had second interviews with former Mavs coach Avery Johnson and current Dallas assistant coach Dwane Casey, according to ESPN. No Hornets offer to Thibodeau yet

Reports came yesterday that the New Orleans Hornets had made an offer to Boston Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau to take over the head-coaching spot that’s open in the Big Easy, but Hornets GM Jeff Bower tells the New Orleans Times-Picayune that no such offer has been made . "The New Orleans Hornets have not made a formal offer to any candidates involved in the process to hire a head coach,” Bower said in a statement.

Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Dwane Casey is  getting a second interview for the head-coaching opening with the Atlanta Hawks , but nobody should think he’s any kind of frontrunner, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. The paper reports that the team is in absolutely no hurry to name a new coach, and general manager Rick Sund plans on being extremely deliberate in his search

Mike Woodson had the unfortunate experiences of "leading" the Atlanta Hawks through the horror of being on the losing end of one of the most lopsided NBA sweeps in history at the hands of the Orlando Magic . Now Woodson is out of a job and Atlanta is mostly interested in interviewing assistants of other teams for the position, according to the Oregonian. The Hawks contacted Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard yesterday to get permission to talk to assistant Dean Demopoulos.

Now that the New Jersey Nets are finally officially owned by the second richest man in Russia, Mikhail Prokhorev, things will likely start to happen a little more quickly for the team. First up is finding a new head coach. And team president Rod Thorn has apparently asked the rep for former Dallas Mavericks head coach Avery Johnson if he would have any interest in coaching the team in New Jersey, according to FanHouse

Hornets seek permission from Blazers and Jazz

The New Orleans Hornets aren’t alone in the search for a new head coach and the team has apparently identified four of the gentlemen it would like to take over for Jeff Bower who Hornets fans have got to hope does a better job in the front office than he did on the coaching sidelines. One of the men the Hornets may end up hiring is former Houston Rockets coach and New Orleans native Avery Johnson. He team also is apparently talking to Mavs assistant coach Dwane Casey, who also supposedly has some interest from the Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers .
