| Mavericks Will Retain Kidd, $25 Mill/3 Years | |
After contemplating joining the New York Knicks, Jason Kidd decided he’d be better off in Dallas and agreed in principle to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks for three years, totaling up to $25 Million. Quite a steep price to pay for an aged point guard, but that’s the price Mark Cuban and company are willing to keep this 50-win team together for as long as it takes. The thing about Jason Kidd, since being with the Mavericks, he hasn’t proven that he can propel this team to the Finals. In fact, they haven’t even came all that close the past two seasons and with the Lakers and Spurs significantly improving this off-season and the Mavericks not doing a whole lot, one would have to wonder if this signing will even prove to be relevant come playoff time. Not to be out done, the Mavericks did sign Marcin Gortat to an offer sheet, but when you look at the whole scheme of things, he doesn’t compare to the presence of Ron Artest or Richard Jefferson. The Mavericks are rumored to be interested in acquiring Shawn Marion via sign-&-trade, but it’s hard to see any scenario coming about where the Raptors aren’t losing out on the chance of signing Hedo Turkoglu. The Raptors would have to be blown away in order for that to happen. Posted in Uncategorized | Comments Off
